Childcare and Child/Youth Programs

• Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Lethbridge and District: connects children ages 6-16 with a mentor/role model to talk to and share activities
• Children and Family Services: supports and resources for children, youth and families
• Family Centre: provides many different services to children, youth and families in southwestern Alberta, including cooking classes and drop-in programs
• Family Support for Children with Disabilities (Government of Alberta): works with eligible families to provide support and services based on the needs of each child and family
• It’s a Blast: before- and after-school programs for school-age children
• Kids Help Line: phone counselling for children/youth ages 5-20
• La Garderie CREFL (childcare centre): located at La Cite des Prairies, this centre offers childcare for French-speaking children ages 1-5 years - Link (English) or Link (French)
• Lethbridge Family Services: the Immigrant Services department provides guidance and resources for registered newcomer clients and their families.
• South Region Parents as Teachers: provides information, support and encouragement to parents to help their children learn and develop the best they can
• Wood’s Homes: emergency shelter, counselling and support for youth under age 18
Community and Government Supports

• Alberta Supports: a website that will help you access more than 30 programs and 120 services for seniors, disabled people, job seekers, parents and families, and can help with homelessness, emergency income support, abuse, and family violence prevention
Financial/Money Help

• City of Lethbridge Fee Assistance Program: apply for financial assistance for recreation and culture, bus pass and Access-a-Ride
Food

• Interfaith Chinook Country Kitchen: cooking classes for adults and children, where you learn to make healthy food and then take it home for your family
• Food Banks: if you do not have enough money to buy food for yourself and your family, you can get what you need from one of the food banks
Lethbridge Soup Kitchen: prepares breakfast, lunch and dinner for people in the community who don’t have food or a place to prepare it
• Meals on Wheels: provided by the Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization, prepares hot, affordable meals and delivers them to people in the community who cannot purchase or cook their own food because of age, illness or disability

Support for Seniors

• Lethbridge Elder Abuse Response Network (LEARN): provides services for seniors who may be experiencing abuse. Helps with safety plans, emotional support and housing assistance
• Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization: services including meal delivery, transportation and Seniors System Navigation Team (helping seniors understand what other programs and services are available to them)
• Nord-Bridge Seniors Centre: transportation and Seniors Systems Navigators (helping seniors understand what other programs and services are available to them)
